Good Start to the Year

Cavs is off to a good start this year with almost full turn up at each session.

The WAFA tournaments have commenced. Next weekend is the Junior Comp with a Change of Venue for the Saturday events. Don't forget that all entries for Competition are required by 10pm on the Wednesday prior to the competition.

Tournament Calendars in hard copy are available for Cavs Members now.

All March fees are due now. Please get them in as soon as possible.

All members must fill in an Affiliation Form now, whether your fees are due or not.

Easter is early this year. Don't forget that we DO run sessions on Easter Saturday but NOT on the Easter Monday evening.

National Competition AFF #1 is not that far away, and fencers are already in training. AFF #1 is in Melbourne 28th-30th March.

Preparations have started for the Cadet Nationals in July. The first meeting has been arranged. If you intend entering, you must see about entry forms and information now.

Bladez -
School Holidays run from 12th - 27th April. Cavs does not close down for school holidays, but this year we will NOT be running Bladez classes during this time. This is to give the coaches a break. There is a timetable for Bladez sessions available at the club. For first term, there will be NO Bladez session on 12th, 19th or 26th April. Any Bladez fencers who wish to join the main group during this period are very welcome.

Our first Beginners' Course for the year is strong in numbers and we hope to maintain a solid membership uptake this year from this group. The course has been totally revised with the view to making the transition to the Intermediate Group much easier.

Masters Games in Albany for 35 years and over will be held 26th - 27th April. This is usually a good weekend, but can only be successful with support from Perth fencers. Why not make a weekend of it? It is a small competition suitable for 'first-time competitors' in an hospitable environment.

Don't forget to keep an eye out for WAFA news on the WAFA website.

Thanks for your support of our club. We look forward to a fulfilling year of fencing.

Thanks, Gillian.
